1975 Dec | Zuma leaves South Africa for Swaziland. |
1982 Aug 21 | King Sobhuza II dies; Queen Dzeliwe becomes regent. |
1983 Aug 10 | Queen Ntombi takes over the regency. |
1986 Apr 25 | Mswati III becomes king. |
2000 Sep 12 | Rosa Parks is received in audience by Queen Sibonelo Mbikiza. |
2003 Oct 21 | The legislative elections take place, boycotted by the union opposition (the only one tolerated). |

2018 Apr 19 | King Mswati III announces that his country is changing its name to "eSwatini". |
2018 Apr 19 | On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its independence, Swaziland is renamed itself "Eswatini" (the country of the Swazis). |
