Indonesia offers a multitude of job opportunities, and knowing the names of different job titles is crucial when communicating in Indonesian. In this lesson, I will introduce you to some of the most common job titles in Indonesian.

Vocabulary

Below are some of the most common job titles in Indonesian, along with their English translations:

Indonesian Pronunciation English
guru goo-roo teacher
dokter dohk-tehr doctor
sopir soh-peer driver
pelayan puh-lah-yahn waiter/waitress

Usage

Here are some examples of how to use these job titles in sentences:

  • Saya adalah seorang guru. (I am a teacher.)
  • Seorang dokter harus merawat pasien dengan baik. (A doctor should take good care of patients.)
  • Sopir taksi membawa penumpang ke bandara. (A taxi driver takes passengers to the airport.)
