As a complete beginner in the Indonesian language, you'll need to learn some basic vocabulary before moving onto more complex grammar rules. In this lesson, we will cover the names of shapes in Indonesian. Knowing these key words will help you navigate the world around you and communicate more effectively with native speakers.
Shapes in Indonesian
Here are the names of the four basic shapes in Indonesian:
Indonesian | Pronunciation | English |
---|---|---|
bulat | boo-lut | circle |
segitiga | seh-gee-tee-ga | triangle |
kotak | ko-tak | square |
persegi panjang | puh-ray-see pahn-jang | rectangle |
As you can see, Indonesian doesn't always follow the same word order as English does. In the example above, the adjective follows the noun. This is important to remember as you begin to form your own sentences in Indonesian.
Here are some example sentences using the words for shapes:
- Bola itu bulat. (That ball is round.)
- Gunung Bromo mempunyai bentuk segitiga. (Mount Bromo has a triangular shape.)
- Kotak itu sangat besar. (That square is very big.)
- Persegi panjang itu warnanya hijau. (That rectangle is green in color.)
Take some time to practice these new words and sentences until they come more naturally to you. And don't worry if you make mistakes – that's all part of the learning process!
Terima kasih for reading and I hope to see you in the next lesson.
