Lesson 6: Talking about your daily routine

In this lesson, you will learn the most common verbs and expressions to talk about your daily activities in Persian. Talking about your daily routine is a great way to practice using verbs in different tenses and to expand your vocabulary. By the end of this lesson, you will be able to confidently describe your daily activities in Persian. Let's get started!

Vocabulary

First, let's learn some useful vocabulary related to daily routines. Pay attention to the pronunciation and practice saying the words out loud. Here are some common verbs and expressions you can use to talk about your daily routine:

Iranian Persian Pronunciation English Translation
رفتن raftan to go
بیدار شدن bidar shodan to wake up
صبحانه خوردن sobhaneh khoridan to have breakfast
شستن دست و صورت shostan-e dast va surat to wash hands and face
دندان‌پاک کردن dandan-pak kardan to brush teeth
کار کردن kar kardan to work
ناهار خوردن nahar khoridan to have lunch
استراحت کردن esterahat kardan to rest
خرید کردن kharid kardan to go shopping
شام خوردن sham khoridan to have dinner
خوابیدن khabidan to sleep

Grammar

Now that you have learned some vocabulary, let's practice using it in sentences. In Persian, the verb comes after the subject in a sentence. Here's the basic sentence structure:

Subject + Verb + Object

For example:

- من به دانشگاه می‌روم. - Man be daneshgah miravam. - I go to the university.

In the sentence above, "من" (man) is the subject, "می‌روم" (miravam) is the verb, and "به دانشگاه" (be daneshgah) is the object. The verb "می‌روم" (miravam) means "go" in English.

To talk about your daily routine, you can use the present tense of verbs. In Persian, the present tense is formed by adding the suffix "-م" ("-am") to the verb stem. Here's an example:

- من می‌روم. - Man miravam. - I go.

To make a negative sentence, you can add the word "نه" (na) before the verb. For example:

- من نمی‌روم. - Man nemiram. - I don't go.

To ask a question in Persian, you can change the word order and add the word "آیا" (aya) at the beginning of the sentence. Here's an example:

- آیا تو می‌روی؟ - Aya to miravi? - Do you go?

Now, let's practice using the vocabulary and grammar we have learned in some example sentences.
