Lesson 6: Talking about your daily routine[edit | edit source]

In this lesson, you will learn the most common verbs and expressions to talk about your daily activities in Persian. Daily routines are an important part of our lives, and being able to express them in a foreign language can help you connect with others and understand their culture better. By the end of this lesson, you will be able to confidently talk about your daily routine in Persian and engage in conversations with native speakers.

Let's start by learning some useful vocabulary related to daily routines in Persian:

Verbs[edit | edit source]

Here are some common verbs that you can use to talk about your daily activities:

1. خوردن (khordan) - to eat: - من صبحانه می‌خورم. (Man sobhaneh mikhoram.) - I eat breakfast. - عصرها معمولاً میوه می‌خورم. (Asrha momanlan meve mikhoram.) - I usually eat fruit in the afternoon.

2. نوشیدن (nushidan) - to drink: - من قهوه صبحانه می‌نوشم. (Man ghahve-ye sobhaneh minusham.) - I drink coffee for breakfast. - عصرها معمولاً چای می‌نوشم. (Asrha momanlan chay minusham.) - I usually drink tea in the afternoon.

3. خوابیدن (khabidan) - to sleep: - من هر شب ساعت ۱۰ می‌خوابم. (Man har shab saat 10 mikhabam.) - I go to sleep at 10 o'clock every night. - من همیشه شب‌ها کاملاً خوب می‌خوابم. (Man hamisheh shabha kamelan khub mikhabam.) - I always sleep well at night.

4. بیدار شدن (bidar shodan) - to wake up: - من هر روز ساعت ۷ صبح بیدار می‌شوم. (Man har roz saat 7 sobh bidar mishavam.) - I wake up at 7 o'clock every morning. - من همیشه زود صبح بیدار می‌شوم. (Man hamisheh zood-e sobh bidar mishavam.) - I always wake up early in the morning.

5. رفتن (raftan) - to go: - من هر روز به مدرسه می‌روم. (Man har roz be madreseh miravam.) - I go to school every day. - عصرها معمولاً به پارک می‌روم. (Asrha momanlan be park miravam.) - I usually go to the park in the afternoon.

6. برگشتن (bargashtan) - to come back: - من هر روز بعد از کار به خانه برمی‌گردم. (Man har roz ba'd az kar be khaneh barmigardam.) - I come back home after work every day. - شب‌ها معمولاً دیر به خانه برمی‌گردم. (Shabha momanlan dir be khaneh barmigardam.) - I usually come back home late at night.

7. کار کردن (kar kardan) - to work: - من هر روز ساعت ۹ صبح شروع به کار می‌کنم. (Man har roz saat 9 sobh shoru' be kar mikonam.) - I start working at 9 o'clock every morning. - من تمام روزها در دفتر کار می‌کنم. (Man tamam-e rozha dar daftar-e kar mikonam.) - I work in the office all day.

8. درس خواندن (dars khandan) - to study: - من هر روز بعد از ظهر می‌خوانم. (Man har roz ba'd az zohr mikhanam.) - I study every day in the afternoon. - شب‌ها معمولاً کتاب می‌خوانم. (Shabha momanlan ketab mikhnam.) - I usually read books at night.

9. تمرین کردن (tamrin kardan) - to exercise: - من هر روز به ورزشگاه می‌روم تا تمرین کنم. (Man har roz be varzeshgah miravam ta tamrin konam.) - I go to the gym every day to exercise. - عصرها معمولاً ورزش می‌کنم. (Asrha momanlan varzesh mikonam.) - I usually exercise in the afternoon.

10. دیدار کردن (didar kardan) - to meet: - من هر روز دوستانم را می‌بینم. (Man har roz dustanam ra mibinam.) - I meet my friends every day. - عصرها معمولاً با خانواده دیدار می‌کنم. (Asrha momanlan ba khanevadeh didar mikonam.) - I usually meet with family in the afternoon.

Here is a conversation between two friends, Sara and Ali, discussing their daily routines:

Sara: سلام علی! هر روزت چطور می‌گذره؟ (Salam Ali! Har rozat chetor migzarad?) Ali: سلام سارا! من صبح‌ها ساعت ۷ بیدار می‌شوم. بعد از ظهر به مدرسه می‌روم و تا ساعت ۴ کلاس دارم. بعد از کلاس عصرها به کتابخانه می‌روم و درس می‌خوانم. شب‌ها همیشه در خانه می‌مانم و فیلم تماشا می‌کنم. (Salam Sara! Man sobhha saat 7 bidar mishavam. Ba'd az zohr be madreseh miravam va ta saat 4 kelas daram. Ba'd az kelas asrha be ketabkhaneh miravam va dars mikhnam. Shabha hamisheh dar khaneh mimanam va film tamasha mikonam.) Sara: خیلی جالبه! من هم همینطور صبح‌ها ساعت ۷ بیدار می‌شوم، ولی بعد از ظهر به خونه برمی‌گردم و درس می‌خوانم. شب‌ها عادت کردم به ورزش کردن و عصرها به پارک می‌روم. (Kheili jaleb ast! Man ham intor sobhha saat 7 bidar mishavam, vali ba'd az zohr be khaneh barmigardam va dars mikhnam. Shabha adat kardam be varzesh kardan va asrha be park miravam.) Ali: باورت می‌شه شب‌ها به پارک می‌روی؟ (Bavaret mishavd shabha be park miravi?) Sara: بله! هوای شب‌ها رو خیلی دوست دارم. (Bale! Havaye shabha ro kheili dust daram.) Ali: خیلی قشنگه! باید یه روز با هم به پارک بریم. (Kheili ghashange! Bayad ye roz ba ham be park berim.) Sara: حتماً! منتظرم. (Hatman! Montazeram.)

To talk about daily routines, it's important to use time expressions. Here are some common time expressions in Persian:

- هر روز (har roz) - every day - صبح (sobh) - morning - ظهر (zohr) - noon - عصر (asr) - afternoon - شب (shab) - night

You can use these time expressions to specify when you perform certain activities. For example:

- من هر روز صبحانه می‌خورم. (Man har roz sobhaneh mikhoram.) - I eat breakfast every day. - عصرها معمولاً به پارک می‌روم. (Asrha momanlan be park miravam.) - I usually go to the park in the afternoon.

Adverbs of Frequency[edit | edit source]

Adverbs of frequency are used to describe how often an action takes place. In Persian, adverbs of frequency come before the verb. Here are some common adverbs of frequency in Persian:

- همیشه (hamisheh) - always - معمولاً (momanlan) - usually - اغلب (oqlob) - often - گاهی (gahi) - sometimes - نادر (nadar) - rarely - هرگز (hargez) - never

You can use these adverbs of frequency to describe the regularity of your daily activities. For example:

- من همیشه شب‌ها خوب می‌خوابم. (Man hamisheh shabha khub mikhabam.) - I always sleep well at night. - من اغلب به تمرین می‌روم. (Man oqlob be tamrin miravam.) - I often go to the gym.
