Cultural Insight > Eating Habits and Food Prices in Sweden

When it comes to Swedes' eating habits, a recent national study has shown that Swedes eat healthier than before. However, this doesn't mean that there isn't any room for improvement. The same study also shows that women generally eat healthier than men and that young men and women between the ages of eighteen and thirty have the worst eating habits. Young people in general don't eat enough vegetables, fruits, and whole grains and eat too much food that contains high levels of fat and sugar. When it comes to food prices, Sweden is one of the more expensive countries in which to do grocery shopping in Europe. In fact, Sweden ended up in the top three of the most expensive countries in Europe when it came to food prices. The only two countries that have higher food prices are Norway, as number one, and Denmark, as number two. Even though the three Scandinavian countries all end up in the top three positions when it comes to food prices, there is still quite a difference between them, and as a result, it's not uncommon for Norwegians who live close to the Swedish border go over to Sweden to do some grocery shopping.
