Plockgodis, or "pick-n-mix candy," is very popular in Sweden. It has a long history in Sweden, where it was first sold behind store counters. Selling pick-n-mix behind the counter was becoming common during the 1930s. But plockgodis became even more popular when the customers themselves were able to actually pick and mix their own candy through self-service in 1985. Swedes consume the most pick-n-mix in the whole world, but pick-n-mix is also popular in Norway and Finland. It has been calculated that around one-hundred million bags of pick-n-mix are sold every year in Sweden and that the average weight of each bag is around three-hundred-fifty grams. Pick-n-mix is liked by many Swedes, perhaps because it gives you an opportunity to choose your absolute favorites. However, the demographic groups who consume the most pick-n-mix are youth and women between the ages of twenty-five and sixty years old.
