Here are some of the most common professions in Malayalam along with their translations:

ഡോക്ടർ (doktor) dok-tor Doctor
അനുവദകൻ (anuvadakkan) a-nu-va-da-kkan Translator

Words Related to Work and Professions

Here are some other words and phrases related to work and professions in Malayalam:

  • ജോലി (joḷi) - Job
  • നോക്കിയത് (nokkiyathu) - Interview
  • സമ്മാനം (sammaanam) - Salary
  • കമ്പനി (kampani) - Company
  • സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് (sartifikkat) - Certificate
  • പെട്ടന്നുപോകുക (peṭṭannupōku) - To retire

Using the Vocabulary

To practice using these words and phrases, try constructing sentences about different professions. For example, you could say "എനിക്ക് വക്കീൽ ആകാൻ ആഗ്രഹമുണ്ട്" (Enikk vakkil aakan agrahamundu) which means "I want to become a lawyer". Or you could say "നിങ്ങൾ എങ്ങനെ പക്ഷിപറക്കാൻ ആകുന്നു?" (ningal enganet pakshiparakkaan aakunnu?) which means "How do you become a pilot?"

You can also ask someone about their profession by saying "നിങ്ങളുടെ ജോലി എന്താണ്?" (ningaḷuṭe joḷi endhaan?) which means "What do you do for a living?"

By practicing these phrases, you will get more comfortable with the vocabulary related to work and professions in Malayalam.

That's it for this lesson! In the next lesson, we will move on to learning about Kerala culture and traditions.
