当(當) dāng should in Mandarin Chinese

Radical of the simplified form is 小 xiăo (24). Radical of the traditional form is 田 tián “field.” Phonetic of the traditional form is 尚 shàng “still.” Distinguish 当 (當) from 常 cháng (386), 度 dù (269), and 带 (帶) dài (93).
