赶(趕) găn rush, hurry, make a dash for - Mandarin Chinese
Definition[edit | edit source]
Radical is 走 zŏu “walk”. The colloquial name for this radical is 走字旁 zŏuzìpáng “side made up of the character 走.” When 走 serves as the radical in another character, its last stroke is lengthened, with the component on the right side placed above the last stroke of 走. Phonetic of the simplified form is 干 gān “shield,” while the phonetic of the traditional form is 旱 hàn “drought.” Distinguish 赶 (趕) from 走, 起 qĭ, 越 yuè, and 趣 qù.
