Advanced Questions[edit | edit source]

In addition to the basic question words, there are several other ways to form questions in Bashkir. Let's take a look at each and provide some examples.

Yes/No Questions[edit | edit source]

To form a yes/no question in Bashkir, simply add the particle "һә" (hä) at the end of a statement. Here's an example:

  • Урам бер яҙыйыр? (The street is busy.)
    • Урам бер яҙыйыр һә? (Is the street busy?)

Notice the addition of the particle "һә" (hä) at the end of the statement.

Question Particles[edit | edit source]

In Bashkir, there are several particles that can be added to a statement to turn it into a question. These particles include "һәй", "әй", "әйә", and "әйәге".

  • Һәй (häy) - expresses surprise or disbelief
  • Әй (äy) - expresses curiosity or uncertainty
  • Әйә (äyä) - expresses hesitation or doubt
  • Әйәге (äyäge) - expresses insistence or emphasis

Here are some examples:

  • Bizge кедер? (Do you feel sorry for us?)
    • Bizge кедер һәй? (Do you really feel sorry for us?)

In this example, the particle "һәй" (häy) is added to emphasize the speaker's doubt.

  • Уҡба театры бармы? (Is there a theater in Ufa?)
    • Уҡба театры бармы әй? (I wonder if there's a theater in Ufa?)

Here, the particle "әй" (äy) is added to express curiosity or uncertainty.

Inverted Questions[edit | edit source]

In Bashkir, you can also form questions by inverting the word order of a statement. Here's an example:

  • Мин әҙә казан? (I have a pot.)
    • Әҙә миң казан? (Do you have a pot?)
