Thunderhead27January 2021 Sluggish means tired. For example: I feel sluggish today so I will not go to the gym.
Lazy means you don’t want to do anything because you’re not in the mood. For example: I am naturally lazy therefore it’s hard for me to achieve any goals without proper motivation. |

AussieInBgJanuary 2021 Some dictionary writers can be lazy about the definitions that they give for words and, in turn, dictionary editors are sluggish about fixing these mistakes.
vincentJanuary 2021 Thanks! actually when I was looking up in the dictionnary, it said ”paresseux” for ”sluggish”. thanks for the info
wordspongeJanuary 2021 Sluggish actually does not mean tired. Not precisely. Sluggish means slow to move. Like a slug. While a person who is sluggish may be lacking energy (tired), it doesn’t mean tired. Slugs don’t move slowly because they are tired. Neither do sloths. To say that sluggish means tired does not capture the meaning. |
