What is a "Half and Half" PLOC?

This is an adapted version of Polyglot Club's popular PLOC.
Find out more about PLOC

The concept of a "Half and Half" PLOC is slightly different from a regular "PLOC Meeting".

Experience has shown that structure is necessary for most learners who want to initiate a foreign language exchange.
However, research shows that there may also be as many learning styles as there are language learners out there.
Therefore, PolyglotClub strives to offer different learning environments so that YOU can choose the one that best fits your needs and desires.
The principle of a "Half and Half" PLOC is simple: during the first half of the Meeting (8-9:30pm), participants communicate in *All Foreign Languages* EXCEPT the official/national language(s) spoken in your country.
And in the second part of the evening (9:30-11pm), the official/national language(s) in your country will be added, to spice up the interactions!
So, listen out for the bell ring at halftime!
We insist that you do the exchange in this order. That is, foreign languages first, and only then, the local language(s).
Speaking a foreign language requires more effort and attention, and many Members may be reluctant or too tired to do so, after a while.
As well, empirical research indicates that it is always easier to get back to one's mother tongue, than to switch to an other idiom.
You can be more flexible according to the number of attendants and their mother tongue(s).
Yet, it is important to respect the "Half and Half" PLOC concept, where everyone speaks in foreign languages for a period of time and then, switch to the local language for an equal period of time.
This method brings many benefits for foreign language learners.
