Hi Polish Learners! 😃

Perfective
➡ In today's lesson, we will learn how to Construct the Polish Future Tense. After mastering this topic, you might also be interested in exploring other related grammar lessons, such as Polish "to be" verb, Polish Questions and Negations, and Polish Questions.
The perfective aspect is usually made with the imperfective form and a prefix, or perhaps an altered ending. Some basic examples are (perfetive/imperfective) robić/zrobić (to do/make), powtorzać/powtórzyć (to repeat, reiterate), and próbować/spróbować (to try/attempt).

To form the perfective future tense, you conjugate the perfective pair the same as the imperfective present, found here.
Happy learning!

Future Tense in Polish
Poland-Timeline-PolyglotClub.png

Hi Polish Learners! 😃

➡ In today's lesson, we will learn how to Construct the Polish Future Tense. After mastering this topic, you might also be interested in exploring other related grammar lessons, such as Polish "to be" verb, Polish Questions and Negations, and Polish Questions.

Happy learning!

Introduction[edit | edit source]

The Polish future tense has two aspects, which is shown by verb pairs (i.e.robić/zrobić): perfective and imperfective.

Perfective implies an action that is not repeated, and is completed. Imperfective implies repeated, or interupted action.

Perfective[edit | edit source]

The perfective aspect is usually made with the imperfective form and a prefix, or sometimes an altered ending.

Some basic examples are (perfetive/imperfective) robić/zrobić (to do/make), powtarzać/powtórzyć (to repeat, reiterate), and próbować/spróbować (to try/attempt).

To form the perfective future tense, you conjugate the perfective pair the same as the imperfective present, found here: Language/Polish/Grammar/Present-Tense.

1st Sing (Ja) 2nd Sing (Ty) 3rd Sing (On, Ona, Ono, Pan, Pani) 1st Plural (My) 2nd Plural (Wy) 3rd Plural (Oni, One, Panie, Panowie)
Zrobić Zrobię Zrobisz Zrobi Zrobimy Zrobicie Zrobią
Powtórzyć Powtórzę Powtórzysz Powtórzy Powtórzymy Powtórzycie Powtórzą
Spróbować Spróbuję Spróbujesz Spróbuje Spróbujemy Spróbujecie Spróbują

A rough translation of this could be Zrobię - I will do/make.

Imperfective[edit | edit source]

The imperfective aspect is created by conjugated być to the future tense, and adding the infinitive imperfective pair after.

You may also conjugate the infinitive verb to the past tense (and making it match to the subject).

1st Sing (ja) 2nd Sing (Ty) 3rd Sing (On, ona, ono, Pan, Pani) 1st Plural (My) 2nd Plural (Wy) 3rd Plural (Oni, One, Panie, Panowie)
Robić Będę robić/robił(a) Będziesz robić/robił(a) Będzie robić/robił(a/o) Będziemy robić/robili/robiły Będziecie robić/robili/robiły Będą robić/robili/robiły
Powtarzać Będę powtarzać/powtarzał(a) Będziesz powtarzać/powtarzał(a) Będzie powtarzać/powtarzał(a/o) Będziemy powtarzać/powtarzali/powtarzały Będziecie powtarzać/powtarzali/powtarzały Będą powtarzać/powtarzali/powtarzały
Próbować Będę próbować/próbował(a) Będziesz próbować/próbował(a) Będzie próbować/próbował(a/o) Będziemy próbować/próbowali/próbowały Będziecie próbować/próbowali/próbowały Będą próbować/próbowali/próbowały

A rough translation of this could be I will be doing/making.
