Kazakh Cinema

Kazakhstan has a thriving film industry which produces both secular and non-secular movies. The film industry has been present since the Soviet Era and now boasts numerous renowned filmmakers who have won recognition in the international scene.

Some of the notable films produced in Kazakhstan include 'The Daughter-in-Law' directed by Kamalakhanov Zhappar and 'Mongol' directed by Sergey Bodrov. Cinemas which show international blockbusters can be found in the largest cities in Kazakhstan.

Live Performances

Kazakhstan’s folk music has been recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage. The country has a rich traditional music culture, which is evident in local performances. The performers use traditional instruments such as the kobyz (a stringed instrument) and dombra (a long-necked lute) with impressive skill.

In bigger cities, nightclubs and concert houses offer live music events featuring popular local artists as well as international artists.

Nightclubs

Nightclubs can be found in almost all major cities in Kazakhstan, and there is so much diversity that you can find the type that suits your taste. The nightclub scene is an essential aspect of Kazakh culture, especially for the younger generation. Live DJs, dancing, champagne, and cocktails are all part of the Kazakh nightlife.

It is important to note that the dress code can be strict, with a strong preference for stylish and upscale clothing. Some popular nightclubs in Kazakhstan are 'Aura' in Almaty, 'Frank' in Nur-Sultan, 'Terminal' in Aktobe, and 'Hedonism' in Shymkent.

Bars

Kazakhstan has a significant drinking culture, and bars offer a different atmosphere to nightclubs, catering to a more relaxed and casual atmosphere. Bars offer a wide range of beer, liquor, and cocktail choices, making them an excellent place to unwind after a busy day.

Casinos

Gambling is legal in Kazakhstan, and you can find casinos in most cities. There is usually an entrance fee, with drinks and snacks complimentary. Games like poker, roulette, blackjack, and baccarat are all popular in the Kazakh casino scene.

Conclusion

Kazazkstan’s entertainment and nightlife are something to be experienced. The country has a diverse range of entertainment options that cater to different age-groups, interests, and budgets. Whether it’s watching a movie, listening to live music, dancing in a club, or trying your luck at the card table, Kazakhstan has something to offer.
