Slovak Vocabulary → Unit 7: Travel and Transportation → Transportation

As a Slovak language teacher, I am thrilled to help you learn vocabulary related to transportation. Whether you are traveling for leisure or business, it is essential to have the right words to navigate your new surroundings. In this lesson, we will cover the basics of taking a bus, train, or taxi. Let's get started!

  • To get on the bus, say "dobrý deň" (good day) to the driver and give him your ticket.
  • If you're not sure which stop to get off at, ask the driver for help. You can say "Prosím vás, kde mám vystúpiť?" (Excuse me, where should I get off?).

Taking a Train

If you prefer to travel by train, you should learn the following vocabulary:

  • If you need assistance, find a train station attendant and ask for help. You can say "Prosím vás, môžete mi pomôcť?" (Excuse me, can you help me?).

Taking a Taxi

If you prefer to take a taxi, you should learn the following words:

  • To hail a taxi, wave your hand and say "Taxi" or "Stoj" (stop).
  • Before getting in the car, make sure to agree on a price with the driver or ask to use the taximeter.

Remember, the more you practice these words, the more comfortable you will feel using them. Don't hesitate to ask for help, and don't be afraid to make mistakes. Learning a new language takes time and effort, but it's worth it!
