Being able to ask for directions in Armenian can save you time and prevent frustration during your travels in Armenia. Asking for Directions

  • Ներեցեք ուղիղ: (Nere-tsek ughi-gh) - Go straight ahead.
  • Աջ գալու դեպքում աջ կարճ գոտում: (Ajj ga-lou dep-koum ahj karj gonoum) - In case you turn right, it's a short distance on your right.
  • Ձախ գալու դեպքում, դուք կարող եք տեսնել տարածքով սեղմած մեքենա: (Dza-kh ga-lou dep-koum, douk ka-ro-k yek te-se-nil ta-ra-tsovk seg-mats me-ke-na) - In case of turning left, you can see the blocked car located on the street.
  • Մե՞զ հասնելու համար որտեղ պետք է գնացեք: (Mez has-nelou ham-mar vortekh petk ee gnats-tsek) - Can you tell me where I should go?
  • Դուք չեք հասկանում, ինձ չե՞ք կարող օգնել: (Douk chekh has-khanoum, injou chekh ka-ro-k ognel) - You don't understand, can you help me?
  • Ուր է ... (Oor eh...) - Where is...?

These phrases will help make your travel experience easier in Armenia by allowing you to communicate effectively when asking for directions.

Giving Directions

Of course, asking for directions is only half the battle. You may also be asked by someone else for directions. Here are some essential phrases that you can use to give directions:

  • Աջ/ձախ գլուստ կամ բաց դեպքում... ((Ajj/dza-kh gou-loust kam bats dep-koum...) - In case of turning left/right or in an open space...
  • Դուք պետք է գնել կողմնակից, այնուհետև գանգատում ձեր ձախում/աջում է: (Douk petk eh ko-khmkits, ay-nou-het-ev ga-ngatoum dzer dza-khoum/ajoum eh.) - You should go to a corner and then turn left/right.
  • Այստեղ կա մի տեղ, կամ թանգարան, ուղիղ գնացեք: (Ay-ste-gh kah mee tehk, kam ta-ngaa-raan, ou-ghi-gh gnats-tsek) - There is a place or store, go straight ahead.
  • Մեքենան կանգ է կապել: (Me-ke-na-n gan e ka-pel) - The car broke down.

Remember to speak slowly and clearly to be understood by non-native speakers. Also, use body language or draw on a piece of paper if necessary to help convey the message.
