Can someone help me understand how to pronounce Chinese characters without having to study each one of them?

There is a rough rule - it may be pronunced the same as a part of it. But don't expect it to be effctive.

    Almost. But unfortunately chinese characters always have more than one pronounce for different part of speech like 好 can pronounce hǎo as adj. and hào as verb.

    Some radicals, in some cases, have that trait. It is random.
    I personally guese that characters with the same radical were pronunced the same, but due to confusion, and also some transformations from a font to another, and simplifications (in modern and ancient times), people eventually called them differently.
