    Depial,

    Your explanation doesn't seem right.

Today has nothing to do with direct or indirect objects. The subject is "to be" and it doesn't perform any action to/for "today"

"Today" is used as an adverb meaning 'at the present time in comparison to the past'.

Imho, one should first learn the reality of a thing before commenting here.

What's today's topic? What's today's focus?

Maybe use "What is today's main focus?" or "What is the main focus for today?" If you do not want to use any of my suggestion then I would use the first one of yours. The latter two just sounds awkward with the use of "on" in the sentence.
