活 huó live in Mandarin Chinese

Definition[edit | edit source]

Radical is 水 shuĭ “water”. This radical is written 氵 and is referred to colloquially as 三点水 (三點 水) sāndiăn shuĭ “three drops of water” when it occurs at the left-hand side of a character. The other element is 舌 shé “tongue.” Carefully distinguish 活 from 话 (話) huà.
