Family Members
Understanding family relationships is an integral part of Northern Uzbek culture. Here are some commonly used words for family members:

- Note that "ona" and "ota" are often used by adults to refer to their own parents.

- Note that dating is relatively uncommon in Uzbek culture, and most romantic relationships are expected to lead to marriage.

- Assalomu alaykum - Hello (formal)
- Salom - Hello (informal)
- Yaxshimisiz? - How are you?
- Rahmat - Thank you
