France has thousand different cheese varieties, including soft cheeses (Camembert, Coulommiers, Munster), blue-veined cheeses (Roquefort, Gorgonzola, Bleu dâAuvergne), pressed cooked cheeses (Gruyere, ComtĂ©, Parmesan), 45 controlled designations of origin cheeses and 38 protected designations of origin cheeses.
