Πρόκειται  για έναν υποθαλάσσιο θησαυρό πάνω στη  ρωμαϊκή γαλέρα.
Its bronze mechanism is made up of several dozen cogwheels allowing to calculate astronomical positions including eclipses.


Αφορά την  ανακάλυψη και ανέλκυση  του διάσημου " Μηχανισμού των Αντικυθήρων " ή αλλιώς "Υπολογιστή των Αντικυθήρων  ".
Ancient Greece possessed knowledge in Mathematics and Astrophysics and was familiar with the signs of the Zodiac as well as the mechanical movements of the Moon.


 Είναι το αρχαιότερο σωζόμενο μηχάνημα με γρανάζια και μάλιστα, ιδιαίτερα πολύπλοκης πλανητικής λειτουργίας.  
So in 1900, "the Antikythera Machine" also called "the Antikythera Mechanism", the first draft of a computer supposed to also predict the Olympic Games, was discovered in the wreckage of a ship of Roman trade by local sponge fishermen, near the island of Anticythera between the Peloponnese and the island of Crete.

The site has been the subject of numerous underwater excavations, including that of the Cousteau team in 1976.

Thanks to the coins found in the wreck, one can date the shipwreck in 86 BC. AD.

La Grèce Antique possédait  des connaissances en Mathématiques et Astrophysique

Ainsi en 1900, " la Machine d'Anticythère " également appellé " le Mecanisme d'Anticythère ",
 
la première ébauche d'un ordinateur sensé  prédire aussi des Jeux Olympiques, a été découverte dans l'épave d'un navire
 
de commerce romain par des pêcheurs locaux d'éponges, près de l'île d'Anticythère entre le Péloponnèse et l'île de la Crète.
 
Le site a fait l'objet de nombreuses fouilles sous-marines, dont celle de l'équipe Cousteau en 1976.
 
Grâce aux monnaies trouvées dans l'épave, on peut dater le naufrage en 86 av. J.-C.
 
Cette découverte a provoqué la stupéfaction parmi la communauté internationale d'experts de l'Antiquité.                        
 
En guise d'hommage, une manufacture de montres de luxe ( Hublot ) a décidé
 
de miniaturiser aux dimensions d'une montre-bracelet l'ensemble du Mécanisme Antique .
 
Une première montre est exposée au Musée d'Athènes et une deuxième montre  au Musée des Arts et Métiers à Paris (édition limitée à 4 pièces ).
 
La Machine d'Anticythère est le plus vieux mécanisme à engrenages connu à ce jour.
 
Ce mécanisme datant de l'Antiquité a encore bien des secrets à livrer .
 
Ses fragments sont conservés au Musée national archéologique d'Athènes .
