In this lesson, we will focus on useful vocabulary related to education. Education in Turkmenistan[edit | edit source]

Education is essential to the development of Turkmenistan, which is why it provides free education to its citizens. The education system in Turkmenistan consists of primary, secondary, and higher education. The primary and secondary education levels are compulsory and require both male and female students to attend. Children start primary school at the age of seven and complete their secondary education at the age of 17. After completing secondary education, students can opt to proceed to higher education or vocational training.

Turkmenistan has several universities and higher education institutions that offer a variety of fields of study. If you plan to study in Turkmenistan, here are some useful words to get you started:

Turkmenistan heavily emphasizes the importance of education to the point that the country has made the graduation of high school a mandatory requirement for employment in government sectors. Turkmen students start learning English in primary school, which makes the language more accessible and easier to learn. Turkmenistan's president, Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, holds multiple advanced degrees.
