In Spanish, Present Progressive is used when an action is happening right now and you need to use the verb "estar" followed by a gerund verb.

Verb "Estar"[edit | edit source]

In English, "estar" (and "ser") mean the verb "to be" in English, in this case, you need to conjugate the verb "estar" corresponding to each subject. Remember "Estar" is a regular veb. The next table will show you how you can conjugate it.

In Spanish, Gerund verbs are those that end in ando, endo and iendo. In English, they are verbs that end in "ing"

Verbs that end in "ar"[edit | edit source]

When you want to conjugate a verb that ends in ar in Spanish in present progressive, you need to erase "ar" and put "ando". The next table shows you some verbs you can conjugate.

Verbs that end in "er" and "ir"[edit | edit source]

When you want to conjugate a regular verb that ends in er and ir in Spanish in present progressive, you need to erase "er" or "ir" and put "iendo". The next table shows you some verbs you can conjugate.

Verbs that end in "ir"[edit | edit source]

When you want to conjugate this type of verbs that end in ir in Spanish in present progressive (they are generally bisyllable verbs), from the verb, you need to change "e" for an "i" and "o" for an "u", erase ir and put "iendo". The next table shows you some verbs you can conjugate.

When you want to create a sentence in Present Progressive, the structure is "Subject+Estar+Gerund Verb+Complement"
