These are the basic colors in Sindhi that you should know:

पीला peela Yellow
هران haraana Green
چوڙو chooro Red
ڳودو gudoo Brown
سافيدو safeedo White
سياهيدو siyahido Black
نيرو neyro Blue

Using Colors in Sentences[edit | edit source]

Here are some examples of using colors in sentences:

  • Example 1:

- Person 1: مونکي سافيدو رنگ جو ڪپڙو پوسيءِ جو. (munkee safeedo rang jo kapro posia joo) - If we breakdown the sentence, it would mean: "The monkey is wearing white color clothes." - Person 2: هاها...جسي ڀلين ۾ پچا سواليءَ پوچنداي ٿو. تو براے شماڪل چوڑي جي ولن تيرا پتھر استعمال ڪريو. (haha...jisi bhilin mein pacha sawaaliyan pochanday thayo, to baraay shumakal chori ji walun tera pathar istamaal karyoon) - Person 2's response means: "Haha, in which desert do monkeys ask these many questions? Wear Brown color Tera Pathar for camouflage."

  • Example 2:

- Person 1: منهنجي چوڙي سرخ رنگ جي آهي. (manheji choori surkh rang ji aahi) - If we breakdown the sentence, it would mean: "My shirt is in red color." - Person 2: زردي ۾ سڀ کج سيکہ روکيديو. (zardhi mein sab kuj sikka rokideeo) - Person 2's response means: "Stop everything in yellow."

Fun Fact[edit | edit source]

In Sindhi culture, brides usually wear red and yellow dresses on their wedding day.
