Sindhi Grammar - Adjectives

Hi Sindhi learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn about adjectives in Sindhi language. Adjectives play a very important role in describing a noun. They add a lot of meaning to a sentence and paint a vivid picture of what is being talked about. Sindhi adjectives are used in a similar way to English adjectives. However, they can be placed before or after the noun they describe. Let's dive into the details!

Adjectives in Sindhi[edit | edit source]

An adjective is a word that describes, identifies or modifies a noun or a pronoun. In Sindhi, an adjective agrees with the noun it describes in gender, number and case. Sindhi adjectives can be categorized into three types:

Simple Adjectives[edit | edit source]

Simple adjectives in Sindhi describe a noun in its basic form. They do not change based on the noun's gender or number. Here are some examples of simple adjectives in Sindhi:

Sindhi Pronunciation English
چڪر Chakkar Round
شت Sat True
ڳڻسري Ghanasri Thick
لمخ Lamak Soft

Compound Adjectives[edit | edit source]

Compound adjectives in Sindhi are formed by combining two or more words. The words can be Sindhi, English or from any other language. Here are some examples of compound adjectives in Sindhi:

Now that we have discussed the different types of adjectives in Sindhi, let's move on to how to use them in sentences.

Using Adjectives[edit | edit source]

Adjectives in Sindhi can be used before or after the noun they describe. When the adjective comes after the noun, the adjective usually agrees with the noun in gender, number and case.

When the adjective comes before the noun, it does not agree with the noun's gender or number.

Here are some examples:

Sindhi Pronunciation English
چنڊو گھر Chandu Ghar Beautiful house
ڪوڏھو ھلال Kudho Halal Clean street
بل ڏٺا سمندر Bel Datta Samandar Wide sea
