Sanskrit had a lasting impact on the languages of South Asia, Southeast Asia and East Asia, especially in their formal and learned vocabularies. If you travel to India it may be useful to know the names of certain animals in Sanskrit.

For example, emblematic mammal of India is the tiger, it has even been elected as the national animal. Present at his side the Asian lion and the leopard, there is also when India that we find these 3 species together!

Also the Himalayas are a refuge for the few rare snow leopards or lynx. The brown bear and the ring-necked bear are well settled with many individuals, but you will surely not meet them! If there is one creature that you will not miss during your India trip, it is the monkey! The two most common species are the red-tailed and the long-tailed.

Finally, the birds are there by the thousands. Around 1200 species of birds occupy all of India! If they are so numerous, it is simply thanks to the incredible diversity in terms of habitat that they find here.
