Cultural Significance[edit | edit source]

In Punjab, people love to drink lassi, which is traditionally served in earthen pots called "matkas." It is known for its creamy texture and sour taste, which is derived from the fermentation of yogurt.

Sugarcane juice, or "sophee," is another popular drink that is often sweetened with jaggery (unrefined sugar) and garnished with mint leaves. It is particularly refreshing during the hot summer months.

Chaah, or tea, is a staple drink in Punjab and is often served with a variety of snacks such as pakoras and samosas. It is common for people to gather at tea stalls, known as "chai wala," to socialize and drink tea together.

Sherbet has a significant role in Punjabi cuisine and is often served during special occasions such as weddings and celebrations. It is believed to have a cooling effect on the body and is therefore popular during the hot summer months.
