Basic Geography[edit | edit source]

Nepal, officially called the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, is a landlocked country in South Asia. It is bordered by China to the north and India to the south, east, and west. Nepal has a diverse geography with the world's highest mountain range, the Himalayas, running across its northern and western part of the country. The southern part of Nepal is mostly plain. Nepal has three distinct regions - the Himalayan region, the hilly region, and the Terai region. The Himalayan region has 8 of the 10 highest mountains in the world, including Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world. The Terai region is fertile and has a tropical climate, whereas the hilly region has a moderate climate.

Now let's learn some Nepali words related to geography.
