Indonesia: The Land of Thousands Islands[edit | edit source]

Javanese is an ethnic group native to the island of Java, Indonesia. Java itself is the most populous island in Indonesia and the world's most populous island with over 140 million people. Indonesia, in general, is an archipelago country consisting of more than 17 thousand islands. The country is located in Southeast Asia and Oceania and has an area of approximately 2 million square kilometers.

Indonesian Climate and Weather[edit | edit source]

Indonesia is a tropical country. It is known for its hot, humid climate in the lowlands and cooler temperatures in higher elevations. There are two main seasons in Indonesia: dry (April - October) and rainy (November - March). However, due to global climate change, the weather patterns have become more unpredictable in recent years.

Indonesian Landforms[edit | edit source]

Indonesia is a country with a very diverse landscape. The archipelago sits on the edge of the Pacific, Eurasian, and Australian tectonic plates, making it an area in the world known to be prone to natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions. The country has many active volcanoes and also has the largest lava lake in the world, located in Lake Toba, Sumatra. Indonesia also has vast tropical rainforests, deep canyons, and many beautiful beaches including Bali Island, which is famous for its extraordinary natural beauty.
