In this lesson, we are going to learn about animals in Hindi so that you can better describe the wildlife in India without depending on English vocabulary. Understanding animal names in Hindi will also help you connect with native speakers and learn about the country's rich biodiversity. India is a country known for its rich and diverse wildlife that includes a variety of mammals, birds, reptiles and marine life. Words like "giraffe" or "rhinoceros" may not be too useful outside of zoological contexts, but knowing animal names in Hindi can be useful and fun, whether you're going on a wildlife tour or simply watching a documentary.

Mammals are the most well-known and loved animals in India, some of the most popular ones are elephants, tigers, and monkeys. Here are some common Hindi words used to describe mammals:

India is also known for its diverse bird population. India has over 1300 species of birds which represents around 13% of the total number of bird species found in the world. Here are some common Hindi words used to describe birds:

India's varied topography provides a habitat to a wide array of reptiles and marine life. India's coastlines that run over 7,500 kilometers are home to several species of marine mammals, turtles, as well as whales and sharks. Here are some common Hindi words used to describe reptiles and marine life:

India has over 200,000 recorded species of insects. They can be found almost anywhere in India, and if you're planning on visiting India, you better be prepared to share your space with them. Here are some common Hindi words used to describe insects:
