me, te, se, nous, vous as part of certain verbs but with no specific meaning

me, te, se, nous, vous also normally accompany some verbs without any detectable reflexive, reciprocal or benefactive meaning:

  • Robert s'est évanoui

Robert fainted

  • Elle se souvient de son arrière-grand-père

She remembers her great-grandfather

  • La foule s'est éloignée
