Central Khmer Grammar - How to Use "Have"

In Central Khmer, "Have" is translated to "αž˜αžΆαž“" (mien). We use "Have" to indicate possession, relationship, or experiences.

For example:

  • "I have a book" - "αžαŸ’αž‰αž»αŸ†αž˜αžΆαž“αžŸαŸ€αžœαž—αŸ…" (knhom mien seavy phav)
  • "He has two sisters" - "αž‚αžΆαžαŸ‹αž˜αžΆαž“αž”αž„αž”αŸ’αž’αžΌαž“αž˜αž½αž™" (kaat mien bang poun muoy)

In the past tense, "Have" is used to indicate an experience that happened at a specific time in the past.

For example:

  • "I had a great time at the party" - "αžαŸ’αž‰αž»αŸ†αž˜αžΆαž“αž–αŸαž‰αž…αž·αžαŸ’αžαž αžΎαž™αž“αŸ…αž”αŸ’αžšαž€αž½αž" (knhom mien penchiet hoey nov brakout)
