Days of the Week[edit | edit source]

Avaric has borrowed most of its days of the week names from Arabic or Persian, a consequence of the historical and cultural exchange between the Caucasus and Central Asia. Below is the list of the seven days of the week in Avaric with their transcription and English translation:

Avaric Transcription English translation
Дерьбешам derbesham Monday
Сюрва syurva Tuesday
ЛьакIабуна ĺaqːabuna Wednesday
РьамIби ramːibi Thursday
Ямаԥат yamapʰat Friday
Шаш śaš Saturday
ЦIитани cːitani Sunday

One thing to note is that, in Avaric, days of the week are not capitalized, unlike in English.

Now, let's see some examples of these words in context, so you can have a better understanding of how to use them in everyday life:

  • Person 1: Дерьбешам ахера резилла. (Derbesham akhera rezilla.) ("I have an appointment on Monday.")
  • Person 2: Ямаԥат йодан гIабури. (Yamapʰat yodan ĺaburi.) ("I always go to the gym on Fridays.")
  • Person 1: ЛьакIабуна бизнес-ивтихьар дуьйбан. (Ĺaqːabuna biznes-ivtixar dujban.) ("On Wednesdays, I have a business meeting.")
  • Person 2: Сюрва хИуа даьната щитartIаш. (Syurva xiwa dańnata śčitarṭaš.) ("On Tuesdays, we study geography.")
