Healthcare is an essential aspect of Avaric culture. Traditional Avaric medicine includes herbal medicines and spiritual healing practices. Avaric people believe in the healing powers of prayer and rituals. Despite the growth of modern medicine, some Avaric people still value their traditional healing practices.

There are some common health issues in the Avaric community. We will learn the vocabulary for the following health problems:

Avaric people suffer from headaches like any other community. However, they have some unique beliefs about the causes and cures of headaches. Here is a dialogue:

  • Person 1: КIара́ла гоцуʒила бо. (K'arala got'suʒila bo.) (I have a headache.)
  • Person 2: Бассани йоцуʒила де хаби, хаби юʒуара де ницIелел дис лахаг юраш ям. (Bassani jotsuʒila de xabi, xabi juʒuara de nit'sielel dis lahag juraš jam.) (Drink a tea made of basil and mint leaves.)

Stomachache[edit | edit source]

Another common health issue is a stomachache. Avaric people believe that the causes of stomachaches include a bad diet or overeating. Here is a dialogue:

  • Person 1: Ху диль мук'аллар дис лази. (Hu dil muk'allar dis lazi.) (My stomach hurts.)
  • Person 2: Телер де чхоттис-сафронан дис кан. (Teler de ch'ottis-safronan dis kan.) (Drink tea made of saffron and cumin seeds).

  • Person 2: Ақадағ де тIуттар дис кан. (Aqadağ de t'uttar dis kan.) (Drink tea made of thyme.)
