In this lesson, we will learn the Avaric vocabulary for colors. Colors are an essential part of any language and are used extensively in everyday communication. By the end of this lesson, you will be able to recognize and use the basic colors in Avaric.

Colors in Avaric[edit | edit source]

Let's start with the most common colors in Avaric:

Avaric Pronunciation English
гӀиза ghiza red
лӀива liva blue
кӀьуьре k'uwre green
марӀийз marijz yellow
къыйла q'ayla black
къезанта q'ezanta white
хӏарам x'aram brown

Please note that colors are in their base form, and to describe something, you need to add the appropriate adjective ending.

  • Person 2: гӀиза бий. (Ghiza biy.) (It's red.)
  • Person 1: лӀиваре Меркурий бий. (Livare Merkuriy biy.) (Mercury is blue.)
  • Person 2: КӀо мас хана бийла? (K'o mas khana biyla?) (What color is your shirt?)
  • Person 1: кӀьуьре. (K'uwre.) (Green.)
  • Person 1: Магьар ӏумар хьечуриг билгӀай. (Magar Lumara x'echurig bilghay.) (I saw the yellow car.)
  • Person 2: МарӀийзаре долу бий, доцуж гӀурт бий. (Marijzare dolu biy, dotsuzh ghurt biy.) (It's yellow gold, and it shines bright.)
  • Person 1: къязанта бийла доцу ву? (Q'ezanta biyla dotsu vu?) (What is the color of this wall?)
  • Person 2: къезанта бийла. (Q'ezanta biyla.) (It's white.)
  • Person 1: ХIарамаре бӏани бийла дести? (X'aramare bhani biyla desti?) (What is the color of this bread?)
  • Person 2: Хӏарам бий, бӏанилэ ина ботуша. (X'aram biy, bhanile ina botusha.) (It's brown, and it smells good.)
