The form рекою has a literary tone. Although the both variants рекой and рекою can be used in one song, poem or tale, рекою is considered to be used in writing and rearly in everyday conversation.

    Gyeongjin, moreover, you can also modify the associated adjective (тихою / тихой). Anyway it's used to make the sentence sound more melodiously

    So рекой is used in a song, poem, or tale but рекою is used in not only a song, poem, or tale but also used in writing and conversation. I asked this because of the song 'За тихой рекою'. In some videos, the title is 'За тихой рекою' but in other videos the title is 'За тихой рекой'. Which is right?

The form рекою is used mostly like an outmoded, archaic and literary one. You may use it in poems, songs, tales or stories. The form рекой is modern, you may use it not only in poems or tales but in any way. Hope I explained it correctly
