AussieInBgFebruary 2022 ”Where have you come from?” usually gets asked about the origin of point of travel after the person has completed the travel. This tends to be used much more often in British English. Americans would likely ask the question ”Where did you come from?”. ”Where do you come from?” is a different question. It is asking what is your original city or state - if you are asking someone from your own country. For a foreigner, it is asking for their country of origin/birth and perhaps also the city/state there also. First part of the answer comes from this question: https://polyglotclub.com/language/english/question/36067#blank I used ”to come” in simple present here - because the origin of the first part of my answer originates from that related answer |
