AyuurNovember 2012 i think it's berber, because it's an unknown language (spoken by indigenous inhabitants in north Africa, called "AMAZIGH" who have existed way before the pharaos of Egypt). All the word can change because of the gender, the verb can change completely after being conjugated, for example: the verb igoun (to sleep)= gounh (i slept) igoun (he slept), tgoun(she slept), argganh (i'm sleeping), ariggan (he's sleeping) ... Furthermore, there are some characters called "TIFINAGH" (google it!) that are used for the writing, and it's quite difficult to get used to it. And as there are different berber tribe (chleuh, rifi, kabyle...), there is also a great difference in the spoken language, and sometimes in the same tribe, you can find some differences in the words spoken depending on the region... You may not know about amazigh or berber people, but they have great history as they are the only ancient civilization that has survived until now. I invite you to do some research about it if you find it interesting!! :D |
AyuurNovember 2012 you're welcome, i'm glad you find it interesting
BerrelsMarch 2015 In some respect your native language will always be the most difficult to learn why ? Its highly likely the only language you'll ever learn the "advanced" parts of. Haha, but its a good question the internet provides many answers but it depends on one thing the quality of learning material, the most difficult language to speak is the one that's the least known because highly likely theirs a small population that speaks the language and learning material will be non existing. That would make the language - Taushiro |
vincentJanuary 2017 Interesting answer, thanks
xenia_romaJune 2017 For me personally it is Arabic |
dizzymanjiApril 2013 I have been checking many languages and by now the most difficult I found was Finnish. It may be because I could not study it well or understand the grammatic well but in my opinion it is pretty complex to learn for foreigners. |
vincentMay 2023 thanks!
TaceMay 2023 I have read the most difficult language would be any or all of the Chinese dialects. It doesn’t have an alphabet--just 40,000 characters. There are also characters called radicals, which are only used in conjunction with other characters.
In English, you can eventually read even if you don’t know what a word means. By third grade, you know how to read. By contrast, I have heard that you are learning Mandarin until you are finished with college, or so.
Obviously, we all learn for our entire life. I’m talking about a functional use of the language. That’s just what I’ve heard.
I have also heard that Arabic is one of the most difficult languages to learn, and this source also mentioned Mandarin, which is consistent with what I already had reason to believe.
