What the different between "are you coming tonight?" and "are you coming over tonight?"?

To speak to the previous comment, I would also add that "coming over" implies staying through the night, so, a sleepover of sorts, which would take place yes at home, but it could be other type of accommodation like hotel, etc. It isn't restricted to a house. So I could stay over at your hotel, chalet, villa, apartment, etc. Whereas saying "are you coming" is just about meeting up and doesn't imply staying the night. Just the same, you can meet up anywhere, so it isn't location-specific. I could say: are you coming to the party? are you coming to my house? I hope this helps some more.
