  • CLUBS FOR EVERYONE?

    • Whenever starting a new phase in one’s academic life, it is worth-wondering what else other than attending the mandatory curricular classes can be done on campus.
    • This especially applies if you are beginning your university life.
    • At first, when I enrolled Davidson’s college, I was of the opinion that choosing just one club to join would be a tough task, as plenty of them were appealing. i learnt that is fair to claim that getting an overview of the facilities and the people in every club is the best way to decide.
    • Hence, I visited the science club and refused to join it as they were using old machinery that was no longer wanted in newly refurbished laboratories upstairs.
    • Likewise, the book club has outdated novels which did not caught my eye.
    • Conversely the arts club displayed a large assortment of artsy materials and people seem to be overflowing with harmony when working there.
    • No sooner had I joined the art club that I realised how much of a right choice I made.
    • Unfortunately, after five quarters there I realised I was not evolving as an artist, I was approaching my senior year and I had no clue on how to get into the workplace.
    • Therefore, I moved to a club that I thought more suitable for me, the alumni club, in where I could receive useful career advice.
    • Nowadays, is not hard to see that most higher education institutions provide a wide offer of extracurricular activities, teams, clubs and so forth.
    • In this regard, it is worth-noticing that not only is gathering information about them important, but also to get to know them beforehand.
    • Furthermore, interest may change, thereby I strongly encourage everybody to keep an open mind and change activities our clubs at their leisure whenever they feel the need to do so.
