  • Thunder Road Bruce Springsteen

  • Hi, I am Marzia and I am Italian.
  • I like Bruce Springsteen very much.
    • This morning I tried to traslate one of his most famous song: "Thunder Road", to understand the meaning.
    • But a line in the end of the song catched me: "But when you get to the porch they're gone" Just yesterday I read that the present perfect simple is formed with the auxiliar verb to have and the past participle of the main verb.
    • The auxiliar be is not used.
    • So, why the line says in that way?
    • What is the meaning of "they're gone"?
    • What is the difference between "they've gone" and "they're gone"?
  • Thanks to everyone who have read my experience and everyone who will answer me.
