Hi everybody, I'm Lucas, a lawyer from Brazil.

I was born in a city called Salvador, member state of Bahia, but now I live in Brasília, the capital of my country since 1960.

There is an atmosphere of old traditions with strong blending of portuguese and african heritage.

In fact, Salvador remembers New Orleans in the USA, including the social problems and the taste for okra - basis of the "carurú" plate (here an recipe http://flavorsofbrazil.blogspot.com.br/2009/10/recipe-caruru.html?m=1).

The other famous dish is the acarajé that resembles falafel because of the islamic descent of the slaves.

After 1835 the islamics were executed, and today the religion is an mixture of catholicism and african elements, that origined the "candomblé" (here in wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candomblé).

People in Bahia are very effusive, always happy, despite the problems.

Otherwise, Brasília is an planned city, build for administrative puporses betwen 1955 and 1960.

Acording to the major architect, Oscar Niemeyer, "You will see the palaces of Brasilia, may like them or not, but never say they have seen something similar before." Brasília is part of World Heritage: http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/445.

The population, in the majority, works for Governement, are of public servants (including me, although I also practice law for individuals, if there is no conflicts of interest).

Brasília is very clean, monumental and organized, people are very reserved.
