What are Ordinal Numbers?[redaktə | mənbəni redaktə et]

Ordinal numbers are used in Hebrew to indicate the position of an object in a list. For example, first, second, third, and so on.

In Hebrew, ordinal numbers are formed by adding the suffix י to the cardinal number. For example, the cardinal number "one" in Hebrew is אחד (ehad), and the ordinal number "first" is אחדי (ehadi).

Let's take a look at the table below to see how to form ordinal numbers in Hebrew.

Hebrew Pronunciation North Azerbaijani
אחד (ehad) eh-ḥad birinci
שניים (shnayim) shnayim ikinci
שלושה (shalosh) sha-losh üçüncü
ארבעה (arba'a) ar-ba-a dördüncü
חמשה (chamesh) cha-mesh beşinci
ששה (shisha) shi-sha altıncı
שבעה (sheva'a) she-va-a yedinci
שמונה (shmoneh) shmo-neh sekizinci

Using Ordinal Numbers in Sentences[redaktə | mənbəni redaktə et]

Now that you know how to form ordinal numbers in Hebrew, let's see how to use them in sentences.

To use ordinal numbers in Hebrew, you simply need to add them after the noun they are describing. For example:

  • הספר הראשון (ha-sefer ha-rishon) - The first book.
  • הדף השני (ha-daf ha-sheni) - The second page.
  • הבית השלישי (ha-bayit ha-shlishi) - The third house.

As you can see in the examples above, the ordinal numbers come after the noun they are describing, and they agree in gender and number with the noun.

Summary[redaktə | mənbəni redaktə et]
