Salam dostlar! (Hello friends!) Today, we will learn about adjectives in Vietnamese.

Adjectives[edit | edit source]

Adjectives are words that describe or modify nouns. In Vietnamese, adjectives come before the noun they describe.

Here are some examples:

con mèo xinh đẹp /kɔn mɛːw zɪn ɗɛp/ gözəl pisik con chó trung thành /kɔn tʃɔ troong tʰành/ sadiq it cô gái thông minh /kó ɣái tʰôŋ mĩn/ ağıllı qız anh chàng đẹp trai /án tɕʰâŋ zɛ̂p trǎːj/ gözəl kişi

As you can see, in Vietnamese, adjectives are not inflected to match the noun's gender or number.

Here are some common Vietnamese adjectives:

  • đẹp (beautiful)
  • xấu (ugly)
  • cao (tall)
  • thấp (short)
  • trẻ (young)
  • già (old)
  • tốt (good)
  • xấu (bad)

Comparison of adjectives[edit | edit source]

In Vietnamese, comparatives are formed by adding the word "hơn" after the adjective. Superlatives are formed by adding "nhất" after the adjective.

Here are some examples:

  • con mèo xinh đẹp hơn con chó (The cat is prettier than the dog)
  • cô gái thông minh nhất lớp (The smartest girl in the class)

Translate the following sentences from Vietnamese to North Azerbaijani:
