Tastes are expressed in Amharic using the verb: “it is sweet,” “it is spicy,” etc.
- ይጣፍጣል yït΄afït΄al sweet adjective: ጣፋጭt΄afač
- ያቃጥላል yak΄a t΄ïlal hot/spicy adjectiveየሚያቃጥልyämiyak΄atïl
- ይመራል yïmäral bitter adjective: መራራ märara
- ይኮመጥጣል yïkomä t΄ït΄al sour adjective: ኮምጣጣ komït΄at΄a
- ጨው በዝቶበታል čäw bäzïtobätal too much salt
