Tastes in Amharic

Tastes are expressed in Amharic using the verb: “it is sweet,” “it is spicy,” etc.

  • ይጣፍጣል yït΄afït΄al sweet adjective: ጣፋጭt΄afač
  • ያቃጥላል yak΄a t΄ïlal hot/spicy adjectiveየሚያቃጥልyämiyak΄atïl
  • ይመራል yïmäral bitter adjective: መራራ märara
  • ይኮመጥጣል yïkomä t΄ït΄al sour adjective: ኮምጣጣ komït΄at΄a
  • ጨው በዝቶበታል čäw bäzïtobätal too much salt
