Abkhazian Grammar - How to Use "Have"

Hi Abkhazian learners! 😊
In this lesson, we will learn how to use the verb "have" in Abkhazian. We will look at the conjugation of the verb, as well as some examples of how it is used in sentences.

Conjugation

The verb "have" in Abkhazian is conjugated as follows:

Person Singular Plural
I ахьуан ахьуана
You (singular) ахьуан ахьуана
He/She/It ахьуан ахьуана
We ахьуан ахьуана
You (plural) ахьуан ахьуана
They ахьуан ахьуана

Examples

Here are some examples of how the verb "have" is used in Abkhazian:

  • Person 1: Ахьуан аба? (Ahwuan aba?) - Do you have it?
  • Person 2: Ахьуана. (Ahwuana.) - Yes, I have it.
  • Person 1: Ахьуана аба? (Ahwuana aba?) - Do they have it?
  • Person 2: Ахьуана. (Ahwuana.) - Yes, they have it.
  • Person 1: Ахьуан аба? (Ahwuan aba?) - Do I have it?
  • Person 2: Ахьуана. (Ahwuana.) - Yes, you have it.

Practice

To practice using the verb "have" in Abkhazian, try translating the following sentences into Abkhazian:

  • Do you have a pen?
  • We have a car.
  • Do they have a dog?

Answers:

  • Ахьуан аба акала? (Ahwuan aba akala?)
  • Ахьуана акар. (Ahwuana akhar.)
  • Ахьуана аба аса? (Ahwuana aba asa?)
