In this lesson, we will learn how to give opinions in Abkhazian. The ability to express our thoughts and ideas is essential. Giving Opinions[edit | edit source]

To give your opinion, you can use the following phrases:

Abkhazian Pronunciation English
Агәа A-gә-a Yes of course / Certainly
Агәа, еще A-gә-a, ye-she Yes, indeed
Нохәчә уаҧҧа Noh-ә-che ua-ppa It seems to me / As for me
Амчу иалоуа Am-chu ya-loo-a In my view / In my opinion
Кеазырчә апчхьа Kea-zyr-che ap-chha Nowadays

For example:

  • Person 1: Ахьаит амчу аҽҳамақәа тхьыреит? (Akh-ait am-chu a-samak-wa-th-ire-it?) (Do you like this book?)
  • Person 2: Агәа, еще. Ахьаит азәәыр еиара тхьыреит. (A-gә-a, ye-she. Akh-ait a-za-ayr e-i-ara th-ire-it.) (Yes, indeed. I think this book is interesting.)

Useful Vocabulary[edit | edit source]

Here are a few useful vocabulary words to use when giving opinions:

Ҳарашоу аҧааит! Ha-ra-shou a-ppha-a-it! No, it was good!
Ахьаит киҭқырра музыка аллазәар? Ah-ait kitkh-khә-ra mu-zy-ka al-la-ze-a-r? Was the music beautiful?
Агәа, ибзоутә, аруа аллазәар, цхьаҵ бытәҵаркь! A-gә-a, ib-zoo-tә, a-rua al-la-ze-a-r, tskh-a-tz by-te-tsark! Yes, for example, the music was beautiful, it made us emotional!
Ахьаит квартал киҭқырра? Ah-ait kvar-tal kitkh-khә-ra? Was the neighborhood beautiful?
Агәа, аҧсны уыӡәуаӡә ацәахә ара, ноуҳәа абышәшәӡәџәа. A-gә-a a-psny u-z-ze-ua-z-ze-a atsaa-khә ara, nou-khәa a-by-she-she-z-ze-a-ja. Yes, the sunset was beautiful, and we enjoyed the sea view.
